Despite being invented decades ago, PDFs continue to haunt us with their inefficiencies. Features of the PDF include:
- Send numbers as low res pictures
- Have no visibility into who can see your information”
- Text that refuses to wrap
- File sizes that rival modern video games
- Requiring specialized (and usually expensive) software to edit
- Crashing your browser when you try to view them online
- "Interactive" forms that are anything but
- Ongoing security hazard
Better Alternatives to PDFs
- Plain text or Markdown (they’re fast and universally supported)
- HTML (it’s responsive and searchable!)
- Cloud-based document sharing platforms (goodbye attachments!)
Please, for the love of all that is productive, stop sending PDFs. Save yourself - and everyone else - the pain.
